The Artist
Tamara Lion was born in Germany while her father was in the U.S. Army and raised in Upstate New York. Her childhood summers were spent camping, hiking, and exploring the Adirondack Mountains, Catskill Mountains, and the New England area. She developed a love of textiles and crafting from her mother and grandmother, who were both avid quilters and embroiderers. She earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising and started her career in the fashion industry. Adulthood took her through the Southeast and eventually she settled in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where she taught her sons a love of the outdoors as well as being creative.
With her family grown into adulthood, Tamara began creating art in earnest. In her watercolor painting she uses colors and keeps things loose to create impressions and movement. Her charcoal, pastel, and acrylic works use texture and shadow to evoke depth and emotion.
“I am always striving to capture the beauty of the natural world in ways that resonate with other nature and art enthusiasts. Nature’s shapes, textures, and colors captivate me!”
Tamara’s unique style and abundant use of color and texture add depth and excitement to all of her work. She is the recipient of the 2023 Northwest Academy Creative Arts Grant and is a member of the Oregon Society of Artists.
She lives in Beaverton, Oregon and loves exploring the Pacific Northwest mountains, countryside and coast. She has 4 sons,1 grandchild, and 2 grand cats.
