Not Your Usual Trip to the Beach - 7/30/22
It’s a beautiful, warm, summer day back in the valley so of course we get the idea in our heads to make the trek to the coast. Oh wait…this is the Oregon Coast we’re talking about. Better bring sweatshirts and hats! Regardless, a beach trip never disappoints. We arrive to fog and wind, but that’s ok as long as we can still see the views and aren’t completely blown away as soon as we get out of the car. The Oregon Coast is rugged, rocky, and usually chilly…no diving in the water for us on this day!
Cape Meares Lighthouse is tucked up into the rocky coast but it’s such a pretty lighthouse with it’s red glass! The wildflowers and driftwood add to it’s charm!
How many times have I said I wanted to start a painting of the cliffs and vistas at the Oregon Coast? So why haven’t I yet? For one, I find rocks hard to paint. Two, I find water hard to paint. ‘Nuf said! I SHALL paint the coast at some point!!
Driftwood with all it’s nooks, crannies, and textures is just so cool! One can imagine the years of wind, rain, and sun that it took to make the wood look like this. Driftwood’s textures and lines are part of my inspiration when I create with Charcoals.
